What Placedly stores

Everything you save — item names, the locations you describe, notes, aliases, location history and any photos you take or import — is written to a database on your device. It stays there. There is no Placedly account and no Placedly server for it to be sent to.

What we collect about you

Nothing. Placedly contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no tracking of any kind. We do not know who uses the app, how often, or what is in it.

Permissions the app asks for

• Camera — only to photograph an item you are saving. Photos are stored in the app's own storage on your device.
• Photo library — only when you choose to import an existing photo. Placedly copies the one you pick and does not browse your library.
• Microphone and speech recognition — only while you are actively dictating an item name or location, and only when you tap the microphone button.

Every one of these is optional. Placedly is fully usable by typing, and declining a permission does not break any part of the app.

An honest note about dictation

When you dictate, Placedly hands the audio to Apple's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your device, language and settings, Apple may process that audio on its servers rather than on the device. That transfer is between you and Apple under Apple's privacy policy; Placedly neither stores the audio nor transmits it anywhere itself, and only the resulting text is kept, on your device.

If you would rather no audio ever leave your phone, type instead of dictating. Typing is available everywhere dictation is.

Purchases

Placedly Pro is a one-off in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. Placedly never sees your payment details. The app records only whether the purchase has been made, as a single value on your device.

Backups you create

Exporting a backup produces a file containing your memories, which you then choose where to send or store. Once it leaves the app it is under your control and covered by whatever service you send it to, not by this policy.

Children

Placedly is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete all memories removes everything permanently. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. As nothing is sent to us, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
